What is a Fish-In?

For those of you who have not attended one of our events, they are great fun and a great learning experience! Generally the events start on a Friday in mid afternoon. You set up your "swim" and begin fishing for carp. All areas we fish are in generally close proximity, so you can socialize and share amongst your fellow anglers. Fish-In's are generally scheduled for a full weekend (Fri-Sun) but don't feel pressured to attend all days if you can't. Most people show up for 1 day, and a group of "hardcore carpers" camp/fish all weekend long! For the most part, camping is in a seperate loction. You will find ALL of this information in the "Fish-In Information" link next to each event on the schedule. On ocassion, there is a great meal prepared on Saturdays by some of our members. Come out and enjoy the fishing, friendship, and the most important: sharing in the great sport of Carp Fishing, and preserving the "World's Greatest Sportfish!". You don't have to be a member of CAG to join our events, but you'll want to be one when you leave! Feel free to join CAG today!

Guidelines for Conduct of the Events
**Updates for the 2007 season will be found in red print**

As far as "rules" go for this year's carping events. The first and foremost is to have fun and enjoy. Carpers just getting together, sharing experiences and enjoying some carp fishing.

For 2007, we will continue the 20, 30, and 40 Club. Catch a fish in any of these categories at any of our events, and be presented with framed certificate denoting the size of fish caught, location, etc. Only 1 certificate per club entry per lifetime.

A "2007 Ohio Carp King" plaque/trophy will be awarded after the last event to the angler catching the largest carp during one of the 2007 events.

A "2007 Ohio Jr. Carp King" plaque/trophy will be awarded after the last event to the jr angler (Ages 16 and under), catching the largest carp during one of the 2007 events.

Only common, mirror, and leather carp count. No grass carp or buffalo.

All fish caught at the events starting at 3:00 pm friday til 3:00 pm on Sunday will be eligible for the the end of year plaque. You don't have to fish the whole event to be eligible for the plaque...if you can only make it for one day; that's fine. A photograph must be submitted of your eligible fish to be eligible for the award, including time caught, weight, and witness of fish.

All angler's must fish from the bank....boats may be used for chumming IF access is granted to the entire group. Boat use is at the users responsibility. CAG will in no way be responsible for any mishaps dealing with boats. No "peg" (bankspace) drawings...just pick a spot and start fishing. Each location has been selected for sufficient bankspace for all to fish comfortably. It's the "being in sight" and bank side chatter of participants that builds the comraderie and excitement of a carping event.

2 rods may be used...only one hook per rod...single hooks only; no trebles. Additional rods for chumming or putting out a marker float is ok.

Conscientious and careful handling of fish while on the bank is very important. Anyone owning fine mesh nets, unhooking mats and weigh slings...please share. If no sling is available...weigh the fish in the net instead of poking holes or inserting in the gills. Please return fish to the water promptly....after weighing and taking photos. Foul hooked, dead or obviously mistreated carp will not be counted towards the big fish award.

Any carp caught eligible for the FishOhio award (26") or In Fisherman Master Angler Program (25 lbs or 34")....applications for these awards will be on hand to be filled out and submitted immediately following the event.

A story and pics of each event will be written and posted on the web (this website, submitted to the CAG publication/website) for possible publication.

Biggest rule...HAVE FUN...enjoy the attributes of a great fish and the anglers that pursue them. It is hoped that these events will grow as the seasons pass....SEE YOU ON THE BANK.
